Telegram is a messaging app and the strongest competitor to the well-know Whatsapp messaging app with over 500 million active users and counting.
It is best known for its strengths and integrity in protecting user privacy while providing cutting edge functionalities needed in a messaging app today. Since its launch in 2013, Telegram has kept to its pride of being secure and feature rich for the end user.

Let’s briefly talk about some of the cool features of Telegram. One of the biggest promises of Telegram is to provide a secure but feature rich experience for users. As a result, the app is loaded with a tone of features and support for various aspects of day to day interactions with family and friends, work, and business. These include channels, groups, secure private chats, video and voice calls, voice and video messages, voice chats, seamless cloud backups and more, all built on top of an unparalleled obsession for privacy. A great feature admired by so many Telegram users myself inclusive is the fact that your chat history travel with you from device to device, no shenanigans! And you are in full control of you data, to delete at will or keep. But today, I noticed something strange.

TELEGRAM VOICE MESSAGE ICON DISAPPEARS IN CHAT

I discovered that in the recent upgrades, the introduction of video messaging capabilities might leave many users struggling with the usage. So, I realized that somehow, the chat microphone icon has got missing, and was no where to be found on my screen. This immediately ruined my little moment as I wanted to get on that mic and spell it out! But then, where did the microphone go? In case you have this problem too, read below to get your mic icon back.

HOW TO REVEAL TELEGRAM VOICE MESSAGE ICON

It took me a while to find out that the introduction of video messaging did not actually remove the already existing voice message feature, the microphone icon, rather, they now serve together as toggle buttons for each other. when you tap the camera button (the video message button) just once, voice icon displays, and when you tap the voice icon just once, the camera icon displays again. Thus, both features coexist together seamlessly on the same spot acting as toggles one for another while doing their jobs perfectly well. I must admit that this is a very intelligent piece of work, although it takes a bit to figure it out.

HOW TO SWITCH TELEGRAM VEDIO MESSAGING ON

The camera icon at the extreme right of the input text field is definitely the video messaging icon in a telegram chat. If it’s not there, then an audio microphone icon is there, just tap it once to reveal the camera icon. And in case you taped and nothing happens, then you’re certainly using an older version of Telegram, so simply update your app to get the feature. To send a video message, ensure the camera button is revealed, then simply tap it and hold to start recording, release to send . You can drag the camera icon up to lock recording. This will allow recoding to continue after you release your hand. When you’re done, tap the dial icon to send. Note that this same process applies too if you want to send voice message.

CONCLUSION

It’s so fun to finally find a platform where you can freely express yourself among friends, family and coworkers without the fear of privacy invasion and mistrusts.
